How to check the tension of your scissors:
1. Hold your scissors palm up and parallel to the ground.
If the blade remains 3/4 open, the tension is properly adjusted.
2. Open the blades with the thumb blade only.
If the blade falls 1/4 open, your tension is too loose.
3. Release the thumb blade and allow it to fall.
If the blade stays completely open and is difficult to close, your tension is too tight.
