Meadowfoam oil is relatively unknown compared with other oils commonly used in cosmetics, such as coconut oil and jojoba oil. Although you may not have heard of meadowfoam oil, its unique chemical structure has the potential to moisturize your hair and skin without leaving a greasy feeling behind. Meadowfoam oil is extracted from the white, flowering meadowfoam plant native to Oregon, California, and Western Canada. The plant also goes by the botanical name Limnanthes alba. When applied topically, meadowfoam oil smooths out your skin and help keep it soft and supple. It does not leave a greasy feeling when applied to your skin like some other emollients do. It is also a skin protectant from sun damage and creates a barrier to the harshness of dry and cold weather. For hair, it moisturizes and can help with brittleness, tangling, frizz, and dullness, making hair smooth and soft.
